Speaking Out
We all have a story to share. We all have a voice.
We are all engaged with story every minute of our waking lives. We are bombarded constantly by story through social media, online news, television and many other external sources. This leaves little time for us to find our own voice, let alone decide how to share it.
This is the place to find your voice.
What Happens
Our work through Speaking Out invites you to:
Record
moments using sound, photography, video, writing, drawing, etc.
Reflect
refine and process what has been recorded, add your own voice.
Connect
with community, share recordings and begin conversations.
Notice how interconnected Listening In and Speaking Out are. Reflection is Listening In. This Place Speaks is a constant conversation between the two.
Speaking Out Principles
Before we begin to share our creative expressions we have to be guided by some principles. The principles we always aim to abide by when Speaking Out are:
Respect
Always be respectful to ourselves, our community and nature.
Love
Approach every aspect of our lives with compassion and kindness.
Learn
Understand we are on a journey and value the process of learning, rather than the outcome.
Grow
Use our knowledge to help grow our minds and bodies, and build a community where we can thrive with nature together.
Speaking Out Can Take Many Forms
As with everything that we do there is no right or wrong way to express yourself. Listening In can trigger sculpture, painting, carving, dance, the list really is endless!

Every place is different.
Every community has its own stories, rhythms and ways of understanding the world.
No two projects are ever the same.
If you’d like to explore what This Place Speaks might look like in your community, we’d love to begin that conversation.
